If you are using a chatbot powered by Sidewired on a business's website, this page explains how your data is handled.
When you type a message into the chatbot:
To help the business understand how their chatbot is performing, we collect anonymous aggregate data. This contains no personal information and cannot be traced back to any individual.
Specifically, we record:
Topic category
A short phrase describing what the question was about — for example, “pricing” or “returns policy”. Not the question itself.
Whether the chatbot answered
A yes/no flag indicating whether the bot gave a useful response. No content is stored.
Hour of day
The hour the conversation took place (0–23), to identify busy periods. No date, no timestamp linked to you.
Accessibility settings used
Which accessibility features were active — large text, high contrast, dyslexia-friendly font, reduce motion. A count only. Not linked to you.
Direct Language mode
Whether Direct Language mode was on or off during the conversation.
None of this data is personal data under UK GDPR. It is equivalent to a website counting page views.
This data is deleted after each analytics report is sent to the business. It is not retained long-term.
The chatbot is provided by Sidewired to a business (for example, a company's customer service team). That business is responsible for informing their customers that their website uses a Sidewired-powered chatbot.
Questions about what data the business itself holds should be directed to that business's own privacy policy.
Responses are generated by Google Gemini (Vertex AI). Sidewired uses enterprise-grade Vertex AI, which does not use customer data to train Google's models. Google's data handling is governed by the Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum.
Because we hold no personal data about you from chatbot conversations, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete.
